VALUING EXPRESSWAYS UNDER TIME PRESSURES by
نویسندگان
چکیده
Based on the stated-preference (SP) survey data collected from a sample of Osaka metropolitan area commuters, we examine the nature of willingness-to-pay (WTP) values respondents indicate for traveling on a tolled expressway under different levels of time pressure. The study shows that WTP varies with time pressure, and that there is systematic downward biases in reporting WTP. The framework of prospect theory is adopted in the analysis. Econometric analyses quantify the effect of time pressure on reported WTP values. Stochastic frontier regression is used to examine the tendency to report lower values. The model performs better than conventional linear and log-linear regression models and provides evidence for downward bias.

How are vehicles running in underground expressways?
With advantages of less land use and better protection for urban landscapes, the underground expressway has become a new solution for urban traffic problems. Relevant safety studies are deficient despite of their significance in urban road networks. The differences between expressways on and under the ground made it inappropriate to apply the detailed design of the former directly or mechanical...
متن کاملEnvironmental and Traffic Effects on Incident Frequency Occurred on Urban Expressways
Traffic incidents are a major source of congestion and travel time uncertainty. Traditionally, extensive attention has been given to accidents in the view of safety when studying occurrence frequency. The regularity of incident frequency, however, deserves equal attention by practitioners and researchers, especially on urban expressways with dense ramps and high traffic volume. The objective of...

Background: A pressure ulcer is a complication related to the need for the care and treatment of primarily disabled and elderly people. With the decrease of the blood flow caused by the pressure loaded, ulcers are formed and the tissue will be wasted with the passage of time. Objective the aim of this study was to construct blood flow monitoring system on the heel tissue which was under external...
متن کاملThe "unintended pedestrian" on expressways.
OBJECTIVE To explore the epidemiology of pedestrian deaths in Dallas County, Texas, and to compare factors associated with pedestrian deaths on expressways versus those that occurred on other roadways. METHODS We studied all pedestrian deaths among persons 15 years of age or older in Dallas County, Texas, from 1997 to 2004 by linking data from Medical Examiner's office, the Fatality Analysis ...
متن کاملTitle: TRAFFIC SAFETY ASSESSMENT OF DIFFERENT TOLL COLLECTION SYSTEMS ON EXPRESSWAYS USING MULTIPLE ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES
Traffic safety has been considered one of the most important issues in the transportation field. Crashes have caused extensive human and economic losses. According to the World Health Organization, the world still lost 1.24 million lives from road traffic crashes in the year of 2013. And without action, traffic crashes on the roads network are predicted to result in deaths of around 1.9 million...
